Pest Control in Laguna Niguel, CA
Laguna Niguel grew up in the 1980s and 1990s. Census estimates date about 44% of its homes to the 1980s and another 20% to the 1990s. The city reminds residents that living near open space brings wildlife visits, and coyotes show up more often in the spring breeding season. Getting pest control here can mean three different calls. A licensed exterminator handles termites, rodents and ants at the house. The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District handles mosquitoes and fire ants. Mission Viejo Animal Services answers animal calls under a city contract. - The coyote number is a state line. The city asks residents to report every coyote sighting, encounter or conflict to (888) 334-2258. That number is CDFW's CALTIP line (Californians Turn In Poachers and Polluters), which runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Sources: City of Laguna Niguel, Urban Wildlife and Coyotes, CA Department of Fish and Wildlife, CalTIP
- One of California's early master-planned communities. The city traces its start to the Laguna Niguel Corporation, formed in 1959, and a plan by Victor Gruen and Associates for about 7,100 acres. Common pests in Laguna Niguel
Termites
UC IPM says the western drywood termite is commonly found along the Pacific coastal region. Its colonies are small, usually fewer than 1,000 termites, and take years to mature. They are rarely seen until they swarm. Subterranean termites leave earthen mud tubes instead.Related: Termite inspection in Laguna Niguel · Termite signs guide · Termite fumigation and local treatment guideSources: UC IPM, Drywood Termites, UC IPM, Subterranean and Other Termites
Roof rats and fallen fruit
The city's wildlife tips say to pick up fallen fruit and keep pet food indoors. OC Vector lists the same foods, plus birdseed, as what draws roof rats into backyards. UC IPM suggests pruning dense plants such as pyracantha and juniper at least 2 feet away from buildings, and closing gaps over ¼ inch.Related: Rodent control guideSources: City of Laguna Niguel, Urban Wildlife and Coyotes, OCMVCD, Rats, UC IPM, Rats
Red imported fire ants
OC Vector says these ants are drawn to electrical current and commonly damage air conditioners, spas, outdoor lighting and irrigation controllers. If you suspect a mound, call the district rather than treating it yourself.Sources: OCMVCD, Red Imported Fire Ants
Day-biting mosquitoes
The invasive black-and-white Aedes bite in daylight and can breed indoors. Their eggs stick above the waterline in saucers and vases and can last for years.Sources: OCMVCD, Aedes Mosquitoes a.k.a. Ankle Biters
Coyotes and other wildlife
To make a yard less inviting, the city suggests clearing thick brush, enclosing the bottoms of porches and decks, and keeping cats and small dogs inside or with an adult.Sources: City of Laguna Niguel, Urban Wildlife and Coyotes

What this directory covers and what it does not
SoCal Pest Finder is an independent directory. Company profiles include source links and dated public-license information. A listing is not an endorsement, inspection, ranking, or availability statement. County service statements are separate from city service-area evidence.
The pest notes on this page come from public sources such as UC IPM, the county vector control district and the city, and each one links to where it came from. They can't tell you what is going on at your address, and we don't quote prices or rate companies. For that, have a licensed company inspect.
