Pest Control in Dana Point, CA
Dana Point shares its animal shelter with San Clemente, and most of its homes went up in the 1970s and 1980s: Census estimates put about 31% in each decade. Pest problems here split between three kinds of help. A licensed pest control company or exterminator handles termites, rodents and ants at the house. Common pests in Dana Point
Termites
UC IPM says the western drywood termite is commonly found along the Pacific coastal region. Drywood colonies stay inside the wood they eat and push out small six-sided pellets. Subterranean termites live in the soil and build mud tubes to reach the house.Related: Termite inspection in Dana Point · Termite signs guide · Termite fumigation and local treatment guideSources: UC IPM, Drywood Termites, UC IPM, Subterranean and Other Termites
Roof rats
OC Vector says roof rats run along utility lines and fences and are drawn to birdseed, pet food and backyard fruit and nuts. UC IPM says to seal any opening larger than ¼ inch.Related: Rodent control guideSources: OCMVCD, Rats, UC IPM, Rats
Ankle-biter mosquitoes
Invasive Aedes mosquitoes are small, black and white-striped, and they bite in daytime, even indoors. Their eggs stick to the waterline of plant saucers, vases and buckets and can survive for years, so scrub those containers, don't just tip them out.Sources: OCMVCD, Aedes Mosquitoes a.k.a. Ankle Biters
Ants
The Argentine ant is the most common ant in and around California homes; UC IPM favors outdoor baits over sprays, which give only short-term control. A mound of aggressive stinging ants is a different matter: report it to OC Vector as a possible red imported fire ant colony.Sources: UC IPM, Ants, OCMVCD, Red Imported Fire Ants

What this directory covers and what it does not
SoCal Pest Finder is an independent directory. Company profiles include source links and dated public-license information. A listing is not an endorsement, inspection, ranking, or availability statement. County service statements are separate from city service-area evidence.
The pest notes on this page come from public sources such as UC IPM, the county vector control district and the city, and each one links to where it came from. They can't tell you what is going on at your address, and we don't quote prices or rate companies. For that, have a licensed company inspect.
